Some of you may know that I’ve started a new adventure as a children’s storyteller. As DD Storyteller I’m creating interactive mini mysteries for 4-8 year olds and having lots of fun along the way.
I’ve been doing some reading around the tradition of storytelling and the role it plays in community; strengthening traditions and building empathy, respect and understanding.
Stories and myth are at the heart of many a fiction novel and so I thought what better prompt than to have storytelling or a storyteller at the heart of our next piece of flash fiction for the Twelve Stories Challenge.
Perhaps the storyteller is a traveller with a tale of woe, perhaps they are the proverbial boy who cried wolf, or perhaps your short story is a legend itself. As always, it’s up to you!
Heres what to do next:
- Write a story of 1000 words or less
- On the last day of the month I will post my story on the blog and on my website, tweet and Facebook the link, and you can post a link to your story in the comments below either post.
- By sharing our stories we can learn from each other, push ourselves outside our comfort zone and most importantly, have fun!
See you at the end of the month.
