The voice and I are taking part in Karen Cannard’s, challenge to ‘slim your bin’ in five weeks aka: ‘The Rubbish Diet’.

This is the second week we have been taking part and last week the challenge was to cut down on plastic in the bin.

The voice is finding it really hard to find a place to recycle plastic food packaging. One of the local supermarkets will take the bags back but finding a place that recycles food packaging, in our area, that we can get to easily, is proving hard. So the voice says she’ll still be working on that this week.

The good news is we reduced our rubbish from three bin liners to two bin liner. The voice says part of this is because we have been on holiday and another part is because she is trying very hard to buy more eco-friendly food packaging i.e. cardboard and paper. She also takes a reusable canvas bag with her wherever she goes and uses that instead of plastic bags.

This week is all about food waste and I definitely know a bit about cutting down on that so I can help the voice to ‘slim our bin’ even more!

If you’re taking part in the Rubbish Diet Challenge, we’d love to know how you’re doing so, be sure to let us know in the comments box below.

I know what that dilemma about plastic bags is like! I’m owned by dogs, so I do use plastic bags to clean up after them. But yes, it’s always a good idea not to use them more than need be.

I love to chat, let's have a conversation ...
